Psychologist, PhD Postdoctoral Researcher
University of Manchester
I am calm, confident, and analytical. My drive to create order and structure from abstract theory is natural. The ability I have to absorb extremely complex material makes me invaluable to anyone needing to create or improve a strategy or system. I trust my insights and intuition implicitly, and I value my opinion. I have an extremely high level of concentration, and I am good at using my future oriented thinking to see the implications and benefits of implementing my ideas. I am a «big picture» person and I have natural leadership ability, but I don’t mind following someone that has my respect. I am a well spring of creative ideas, and I am most energized when I am acquiring knowledge and learning to master new skills.
YEARS OF MY EXPERIENCE
Two decades of professional experience with an optimum mix of practical skills (competitive, dynamic, targeted and result oriented) and humanistic skills (supportive, patient, focused on the relationship and humans), as a result of my involvement to a variety of objects of technical and theoretical knowledge. At work, I can succeed in nearly any occupation I choose, as long as it doesn’t involve too much monotonous routine, at which point I likely become restless. I am excellent at contributing to innovative projects that test my ingenuity; and I excel at using my ability to see possibilities and analysing them to logically solve problems. Clearly, any project that gives me an opportunity to learn, and use my creative impulse seems very worthwhile. The 'right fitting' job for me might be one that provides independence, diversity, plenty of intellectual stimulation, and the opportunity to generate ideas.
“The best way to predict the future is to create it”.
This quote has always inspired me to have the passion and the perseverance for very long-term goals.
I was born in a village in Chalkidiki, Greece in 1982. A happy childhood with my 6-membered family had a positive influence in my life. As far as I remember, I always wanted to be a psychologist. I had always found myself wondering about human behavior and human interaction. Also, I had the ability to empathize with others and I wanted to show them that there is light at the end of each tunnel and there are at least two solutions to every challenge we face up to.
After graduation from high school, since I was an excellent student during all the school years and had a plethora of university choices to choose from, I put the «Hellenic Air Force NCO Academy» as the first choice in the computerized file for the national higher education entry examinations, planning to finish my dreaming studies in Psychology, being financially independent from my family. And that’s exactly how it was done! After finishing my studies in «Hellenic Air Force NCO Academy», I completed all the studies I had dreamed as a child (a BSc and an MSc among them), while working for 18 years in a physically and mentally demanding military environment; as a member of technical staff at first, which was followed by a career in research and analysis, as a Senior Research Psychologist.
The fully funded PhD Studentship that I was awarded in 2018 by the NIHR Manchester Biomedical Research Centre, gave me the life-changing opportunity to follow up my studies in a PhD level, at the University of Manchester, which stands among an elite group of institutions for its superior dedication to teaching and research. Having a strong passion for identifying the barriers and improving healthcare services for patients with hearing loss, I am affiliated with the Division of the Population Health, at the Centre for Primary Care and Health Services Research, which is acknowledged internationally as one of the UK’s leading research centres for health policy research and postgraduate teaching in primary care and translates basic underpinning research into direct benefit for the population health.
Here’s my research profile at the University of Manchester.
Thus, commited to contributing to society, I became finally part of an academic environment, where I always wanted to be, following the inspirational phrase:
“Success means having the courage, the determination and the will to become the person you believe you were meant to be”.

I had the pleasure and honor to coach Dalia 2 years ago. As much as I helped her, she helped me. I was inspired by her courage, the sheer magnitude of her achievements, dedication, professionalism, commitment to excellence, courage to confront every obstacle she's ever faced and conquer it one by one. Dalia is a highly intelligent, ambitious woman, combining the grit and stoicism of the Military, with the inquisitiveness of a scientist. I am proud to have contributed, even in a tiny way, in what I am certain will be a long and extraordinary career (Jun 25, 2019)
I will be glad to hear from you!
